  • I’m a beginner in martial arts with no prior background. Will the classes be suitable for me?
Absolutely! Our Muay Thai and BJJ trainers are highly experienced in teaching students of diverse abilities and fitness levels, and will be able to modify the exercises to suit your ability. In fact, we've had many people start their martial arts journey at Pineapple!
  • What can I expect from a typical class at Pineapple MMA?
Every class begins with a warm-up, you may arrive in advance to do some light stretching on your own as well. Muay Thai: You may expect partner drills, bagwork focusing on Muay Thai fundamentals, and 1-1 padwork time with our highly experienced trainers. Unlike most muay thai gyms in Singapore, our padwork rounds are often slightly longer, ranging from 4-5 minutes (rounds may vary). Expect a solid quality padwork workout and technique refinement with our trainers. The class will then finish off with Thai-style conditioning. Muay Thai Technique: This is a seminar style class, and we are the only gym in Singapore that offers such a quality-packed class. You can expect this class to be highly technical focusing on live combat situations. Techniques learnt in this class may be applied in sparring as well as a real Muay Thai fight. Drills will be done with a partner. You may also engage in touch sparring that is situational for you to apply the technique learned in class. Please bring shin pads and mouthguard for this class. Boxing: This class focuses on footwork and is filled with fun and exciting boxing drills with a partner. Boxing sequences are broken down for beginners and intermediate practitioners with explanations by our trainers. There may also be reaction drills as well as boxing bagwork. This class will also include conditioning for boxing. Jiujitsu: This class begins with movement drills that will improve your agility and mobility on the ground. Working with a partner, you will be taken through jiujitsu principles and drills to work on essential grappling techniques with our highly experienced grappling coaches. You may also expect some light sparring at the end of the class where it is situational specific. This allows you to practice the movement taught in class in a controlled environment. No-gi Grappling: Similar to jiujitsu classes, this class begins with movement drills that will improve your agility and mobility on the ground. We highly encourage beginners with no grappling experience to take this class after a few sessions of Jiujitsu (Gi) as no-gi grappling is expected to be faster paced and slightly more advanced. Working with a partner, you will be taken through no-gi principles and drills to work on essential grappling techniques with our experienced grappling coaches. You may also expect some light sparring at the end of the class where it is situational specific. This allows you to practice the movement taught in class in a controlled environment.
  • I have pre-existing health conditions which may limit my physical mobility. Will I be able to join the class?
If you have pre-existing medical conditions or concerns, it would be best to seek your doctor's clearance before starting on a new fitness program.
  • What do I need to bring for my class?
Towels and shower essentials are provided in the gym. We offer a complete shower facility, Dyson hairdryer and lockers. We also have a selective range of training equipment available for purchase and rental. Gear rental is available for all sports at $10 per set. For Muay Thai and Boxing classes - please bring your own hand wraps and gloves. For Muay Thai Technique and Sparring classes - you will need to have shin guards and a mouth guard. For Jiujitsu classes - you will need to wear a Gi (uniform). As a courtesy towards your fellow gym mates, please ensure that you are always wearing a fresh gi for training. For no-gi classes - you do not need a gi. The typical attire for a no-gi class is a rashguard and grappling shorts. However, any workout attire suitable for grappling is fine.
