Ice Baths in Singapore's CBD: Where to Go and What a Session Costs

8 min read

A single ice bath and sauna session in Singapore's CBD costs between $45 and $68 as of September 2026. Most places sell a shared session in a communal bathhouse. Pineapple MMA sells a private one: $60 plus GST for 50 minutes with the ice bath and sauna to yourself, at 139 Cecil Street, two minutes from Telok Ayer MRT. You do not need to be a member anywhere in this article to book.

Every price below was checked on the venue's own website on 14 September 2026. Several of the round-up articles ranking for this search quote figures that are now out of date by a wide margin, so if you are comparing from a list, check the venue's own page before you turn up.

What a Session Actually Costs in September 2026

Here is the CBD and city-fringe market, priced from each venue's own published rates.

Pineapple MMA, 139 Cecil Street

A private 50 minute session with the Brass Monkey ice bath and the Finnish sauna is $60 plus GST. Ten sessions are $540 plus GST, which works out at about $54 each. You can bring up to three guests at $15 plus GST per person. Open to members and non-members alike, booked over WhatsApp. Weekdays 6.30am to 10pm, weekends 9am to 4pm.

Where it wins is the equipment and the privacy, together. The sauna is a custom-built traditional Finnish unit lined in red cedar: the smell of the wood reaches you before the heat does, and the heater delivers proper Finnish heat rather than a warm room. The Brass Monkey is the cleanest ice bath on the market, filtering its water every second it runs. And for your 50 minutes, all of it is yours alone: nobody else’s water, nobody else’s bench, no queue.

The Ice Bath Club, 68 Duxton Road

A single pass is $55 at any time, or $45 off-peak on weekdays between 10am and 5pm. Packs bring that down: $220 for five, $410 for ten, $750 for twenty. Memberships run from $273 a month off-peak to $377 a month for anytime access. There is a 14 day trial at $180.

Their cold baths are communal plunge pools held at 3 to 10 degrees, with a 90 degree social sauna, a hot magnesium salt bath and a cafe. No booking needed, open daily 7am to 10pm, and bathers, towels and electrolytes are provided. Where it wins is budget: $45 off-peak with no booking needed and everything provided is the best value single session in the CBD, and the social bathhouse atmosphere is exactly what many people come for.

Sauna Bath House, 50 Raffles Place

A walk-in two hour visit is $55, or $68 for a full day with unlimited in and out. Packs run $205 for five, $380 for ten, $580 for twenty. Memberships are $150 a month for twelve off-peak visits, $200 a month for unlimited off-peak, and $320 a month for unlimited anytime. First timers can take five sessions for $99 or a two week off-peak trial for $75. The venue has two saunas, a cold plunge, a hot pool and an ice shower, with swimsuit and towel provided. Off-peak means weekdays from 7am with an exit by 5pm. Where it wins is flexibility: the full-day pass with unlimited in and out is unique on this list, and the Raffles Place address is about a minute from the MRT.

Slightly further out

REVA Social Wellness in Orchard runs semi-outdoor contrast therapy, open daily 7am to 10pm, drop in with no booking and towels and swimwear provided. Where it wins is the setting: the semi-outdoor space gives a session an open-air feel that none of the indoor CBD venues offers. They did not publish a rate card we could verify on 14 September 2026, so ask before you go. Dempsey and the East Coast have their own bathhouses if you are not tied to the CBD.

Private or Shared: The Decision That Changes the Price

This is the real fork in the road, and it matters more than the headline number.

Most recovery venues in Singapore are built as social bathhouses. The plunge pool and the sauna are shared, there is usually a cafe, and the atmosphere is part of what you are paying for. The Ice Bath Club says so directly in its own copy: large communal plunge pools, a social sauna, conversations flowing. If you want the experience to be sociable, that is a feature and those venues do it well.

A private session is a different product. You get the room to yourself for a fixed block, which means no queue for the bath, no waiting for a spot on the sauna bench, and no small talk if you do not want any. For anyone who trains hard and wants to get in, do the rounds properly and get out inside an hour, that control is the whole point.

The maths turns interesting when you bring people. A private session at Pineapple with three guests is $60 plus $45, so $105 plus GST for four people, about $26 each. Four single passes at a communal venue at $55 each is $220. If you and three training partners want to do contrast work together after a session, private is both cheaper per head and entirely yours.

On your own, the communal venues give you more facilities per dollar, and if price is the deciding factor they are the sensible choice. The private session is aimed at a different customer: the one with 50 minutes, who wants the best equipment in the room and nobody else in it, and who considers the gap between $45 and $60 trivial next to the gap between sharing and not sharing. If that is you, the choice was never really about price.

What a Contrast Session Involves

Contrast therapy means alternating heat and cold in rounds. The pattern most people settle into looks like this.

  • Warm through in the sauna for 10 to 15 minutes. You want to be properly hot, not just warm, before the first plunge

  • Into the cold for one to three minutes. The first 30 seconds are the hard part. Slow nasal breathing through them is the difference between a useful round and a panicky one

  • Back to the sauna for another 10 to 15 minutes until you are fully warm again

  • Repeat for two or three rounds total. In a 50 minute block, three rounds is comfortable

  • Finish on heat if you want to feel relaxed afterwards, or on cold if you are going back to work and want to feel sharp

Do not rush the warming phases to fit more cold in. The heat is doing as much work as the ice, and cutting it short is the most common mistake first-timers make.

What It Does, Honestly

The evidence is stronger for some claims than others, and it is worth separating them.

Cold water immersion reliably reduces the muscle soreness you feel in the day or two after hard training, and most people report sleeping better on the nights they use it. Heat exposure before or after training is well supported for relaxation and for the simple ability to switch off. Those two effects are why fighters and endurance athletes have used contrast work for decades.

What it is not is a fat loss tool or a substitute for sleep. There is also a real trade-off worth knowing: plunging immediately after a heavy strength session may blunt some of the muscle adaptation you just trained for. If you lift and you plunge, leave a few hours between them, or plunge on non-lifting days. We covered the detail in our guide to ice baths and cold water recovery and the companion piece on what heat does for recovery.

Getting There from the Office

The CBD cluster is tight enough that where you work decides where you go.

  • Telok Ayer MRT to 139 Cecil Street is about a two minute walk. Tanjong Pagar and Raffles Place are both under ten

  • Raffles Place MRT to Singapore Land Tower is about a minute, which makes Sauna Bath House the easy option if you work at the north end of the CBD

  • Duxton Road is closest to Tanjong Pagar and Maxwell, so The Ice Bath Club suits the Duxton and Chinatown end

A 50 minute private block plus showering and changing fits inside a lunch hour if you are within a ten minute walk. If you already train in the CBD, our guides to training near Tanjong Pagar and near Raffles Place cover the same geography.

Who Should Skip It

Cold water immersion puts real stress on the cardiovascular system. If you have a heart condition, uncontrolled high or low blood pressure, are pregnant, or have a condition affected by extreme temperature such as Raynaud's, speak to a doctor before booking anywhere. Never plunge alone if you have any doubt, never after drinking, and get out if you feel light-headed rather than pushing for a target time. Nobody is impressed by a long plunge.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is an ice bath session in Singapore?

Expect $45 to $68 for a single session in the CBD as of September 2026. Communal bathhouses charge $45 to $55 for a shared session, and Pineapple MMA charges $60 plus GST for a private 50 minute session with the ice bath and sauna to yourself at 139 Cecil Street. Packs reduce the per-session cost at every venue.

Do you need to be a gym member to use an ice bath?

No. Every venue in this article sells single sessions to the public. Pineapple MMA's recovery suite is open to members and non-members on the same terms, at $60 plus GST for 50 minutes, booked over WhatsApp. You do not need a membership, a trial class or any prior visit.

How long should you stay in an ice bath?

One to three minutes per round is plenty for most people, and two or three rounds in a session. Longer is not better. The benefits plateau quickly and the risk of getting too cold rises. Beginners should start at 60 seconds, focus on slow nasal breathing, and build up over several visits rather than in one.

Should you do the sauna or the ice bath first?

Start with the sauna. Warming through for 10 to 15 minutes makes the cold far more tolerable and is what makes it contrast therapy rather than just a cold plunge. Finish on heat if you want to feel relaxed afterwards, or on cold if you are heading back to work and want to feel alert.

Can you bring a friend to a private session?

At Pineapple MMA, yes. A private 50 minute session is $60 plus GST and you can add up to three guests at $15 plus GST each. Four people works out at about $26 per head, which is less than four single passes at a communal bathhouse, and the suite is yours for the full block.

Book a Session
